Media player

Anytime you play a song in this app, using any of the methods described here, it opens the media player player. The media player itself is the central part of the page, where it shows the song that is playing.

The media player is mostly modeled after the YouTube player.

While playing the songs, if the app sees that a song is not ready to play from Smule, it changes the state of the song and skips to the next one. This is explained in song states

The media player itself provides many controls

  1. Tap once on the player
    • Tapping on the player shows the play/pause buttons and the prev/next buttons
  2. Double tap on the player
    • Toggles between play and pause
  3. Swipe up/down on the player
    • Moves to next or previous song
  4. Swipe left/right on the player or drag horizontally
    • Fast forward or rewinds the song
When the device switches to the landscape mode, only the media player is shown. It still has the above controls, which would be visible when you touch the player.

On top of the media player, you will see several icons

  • Play once login or loop loop
    • Toggles between playing the list of songs once login and playing the list in a loop loop.
  • Shuffle shuffle
    • Shuffles the list of songs that are included in the list and starts from the first song in the new order.
  • Playlist add playlist_add or remove playlist_remove
    • Adds playlist_add or removes playlist_remove all the songs from the current playlist. This is explained here
  • Play till completion playlist_play or 30 seconds each queue_play_next
    • By default, songs are played till completion. When playlist_play is tapped, it changes to the quick play mode queue_play_next, where it plays each song for 30 seconds or until it is downloaded. This is explained here
